Securing wp-admin folder is important to protect your website. Using this method will prevent brute force attempts that we see every hour on unsecure sites.
Open cPanel and scroll to
Click on Password "Directory Privacy"
When you click on that, a lightbox popup will show up asking for directory location. Just click navigate to the folder where your WordPress is hosted.
Then click on the /wp-admin/ folder.
Click on Edit
Simply check the box to password protect the directory. You can also pick a custom name.
Then create a user for the directory. That is it. Now when you try to access your wp-admin directory, you should see an authentication
